A project for pneumatic conveying of crystalline urea in the granulation tower – the off-gas contained solid particles of urea and free ammonia in an amount exceeding the emission limits.

Installed process of acid wash in the outlet of off-gas to the atmosphere with a capacity of 25000 Nm3/h (max. 130 °C, ammonia 600 mg/Nm3, urea 200 mg/Nm3) combined wet separation of dust of urea suspended in the air and absorption of ammonia to aqueous solution of sulfuric acid. The main objective of the project was to comply with the emission limits reliably. The outlet concentration of the treated air had to comply with legislative limits for ammonia 50 mg/Nm3, urea 150 mg/Nm3. Technical solution consisted of construction of the separation process using a spray cooler and a wash column packed with floating spheroids. A part of the process was an unloading station of concentrated sulfuric acid from rail tank cars, its storage, storage of used sorbent and its loading to tank trucks.
